COL Darne` is a native of Wichita Falls, TX and currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the newly formed Air and Missile Defense Cross Functional Team at Fort Sill, OK. He entered Army service in 1988 completing the Field Artillery One Station Unit Training Basic and Advance Individual Training (AIT). He graduated from Midwestern State University (MSU) in 1993 and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Midwestern State University and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His military education includes: Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, Field Artillery Officer Advance Course, Combined Arms Staff Service School, Command & General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.
His previous assignments include TRADOC Capability Manager – Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill, Fort Sill, OK; G3, Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill, Fort Sill, OK; Air Defense Artillery Branch Chief, Human Resource Command, Fort Knox, KY; Battalion Commander, 6thBattalion 52ndAir Defense Artillery Battalion, Suwon AB, Republic of Korea; Battalion, Brigade, and Task Force Operations/Executive Officer in 11thAir Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Bliss, TX and Iraq; Assistant Professor, St. Mary’s University ROTC, San Antonio, TX; and Battery Commander, D Battery, 2ndBattalion, 1stAir Defense Artillery, Fort Bliss, TX and Kuwait. His awards include: Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (4 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster), and Army Achievement Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster).
