Colonel William “Doug” Marshall earned an Army ROTC Commission into the Air Defense Artillery Branch in May 2002. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri, a Master of Arts in Leadership and Management from Webster University and is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College.
COL Marshall is currently serving as the Division Chief for Missile Defense, J31, for the Operations Directorate, J3, in U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. Prior to his assignment to U.S. Northern Command, COL Marshall served in positions from the tactical through strategic levels. In his most recent assignment, he served as the Division Chief, Training, Readiness, and Exercises for the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Other operational and key developmental positions include the Campaigns Branch Chief, G35, USASMDC; Chief of Current Operations, Joint Functional Component Command Integrated Missile Defense, U.S. Strategic Command; Battalion Executive Officer, 4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment; Commander, Headquarters Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment; Assistant Operations Officer, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division; and as a Bradley Stinger Fighting Vehicle Platoon Leader, Battery C, 1st Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division.
COL Marshall is a former Commander of the 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Cavazos, Texas. COL Marshall has executed five operational deployments which include Operation Iraqi Freedom I in 2003, Baghdad, Iraq; Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-07, Kirkuk, Iraq; Operation Iraqi Freedom 08-09, Samarra, Iraq; and Operation Spartan Shield 15-16, Kuwait, and Operation Spartan Shield 21-22 in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
His awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, six Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, the Humanitarian Service Medal, two Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, two Valorous Unit Awards, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, Army Superior Unit Award, Iraq Campaign Medal with five Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Basic Parachutist Badge,
Army Basic Space Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. Doug and his wife Darlene have been married for over 20 years and have two children, Brad and Jordyn.
