Call for Papers SMD 2021SMD Debrief: Modernizing Missile Defense
A discussion with military leadership after the Virtual Space & Missile Defense Symposium
The U.S. space and missile defense community’s challenge is simple: stay ahead of the threat from nations such as China, North Korea and Russia. Across the Department of Defense, leaders are adapting existing systems to better counter the current threat, moving forward on major programs of record that improve nearly every element of the kill chain, and investing in next-generation technologies, such as radars, hypersonics and counter technologies. Defense News and C4ISRNET will host a virtual event on Wednesday, August 5 immediately following, and in partnership with, the Virtual Space & Missile Defense Symposium. In this special session they will explore the major lessons learned from SMD and hear from military leadership about their procurement and technology priorities to modernize missile defense.
vSMD 2020
Good afternoon,
Our executive committee appreciates your support and patience as we have worked to plan for the 2020 Space and Missile Defense Symposium. With the ongoing uncertainty and spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), our committee wanted to ensure whatever path we chose maintained the health and safety of all involved.
We now have a strong path forward, and we are excited to bring you vSMD Symposium 2020: Integration of Space and Missile Defense Capabilities Across All Domains, a virtual professional development symposium.
vSMD will virtually deliver government and industry updates from the space and missile defense community beginning Tuesday, August 4 at 8 a.m. Invited session speakers will include the Commanders of the U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Space Command, the Commanding General of the Space and Missile Defense Command, Directors of Missile Defense Agency and U.S. Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office and PEO Missiles and Space.
Patrons and exhibitors will have the opportunity to sponsor this year’s vSMD, with updated sponsorship costs and benefits. A new benefit we are adding this year will be allow for our attendees to view our sponsors’ messages both during and after the virtual symposium. The sponsorship levels, ranging from $1,000 – $3,500, are posted on our website, https://smdsymposium.org/patron/.
There will be no exhibit component to this virtual forum. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to seamlessly roll their purchase over to next year’s symposium or receive a full refund for the price of their exhibit space.
Attendees can visit the website to register for the virtual forum at the new cost of $100 for industry attendees and $50 for those in academia. Attendees who have already submitted paid registrations can opt to keep their registration in place and receive a partial refund.
We will be issuing a press release on Monday morning with the details to the public.
Again, we appreciate your support, and look forward to a successful virtual symposium on Tuesday, August 4.
